Chris Harrison pulled one over on all of us tonight by starting Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette earlier than any of us expected.
As in right there, live, on After the Final Rose.
And it was awesome.

Lindsay has said already that she doesn’t have a type as far as looks go, so we figured what better way to judge the men we got to see first by studying Lindsay’s connection with each as they came onstage.
1. Demario
Hot. And smooth. He booked flights to Vegas so he and Lindsay could elope! He even brought a ring. Lindsay seemed taken with him as is the rest of America, clearly. Great start to this season of eligible bachelors.
2. Blake
He seemed super-nervous, which came across as awkward. He told Lindsay she smelled good and she didn’t seem to know how to handle it. They ended up awkward side-hugging before real hugging before he made his much-needed exit. Hey, live introductions are hard.

3. Dean
When I saw Dean walking up, I let out an unplanned, “Oooo.” Then he told Lindsay he was going to go black and never go back and hearts melted. A cutie with a sense of humor who knows how to wear a suit! And Lindsay seemed charmed. She couldn’t stop laughing.
4. Eric
Eric has a great smile, but he immediately brought the cheese out on stage, which had me second-guessing him for a moment. But Lindsay actually seemed into it so, hey, Eric, you get your cheese on.
Aaand… wow, those men have some serious potential.
I can’t decide if I support this too-soon introduction or not. On the one hand, it was a great way to whet the appetite for what is sure to be one of the best seasons in the history of The Bachelor or Bachelorette. On the other hand, doesn’t it give these four guys an unfair advantage? They’re definitely going to be more memorable than the guys who meet Lindsay the traditional way.
I think I agreed with Lindsay on this when she told Chris Harrison her feelings about meeting some of her men live on After the Final Rose: “If I can keep meeting men like that, yes.”
I seriously don’t know how I’m going to wait until May for Rachel Lindsay’s season. It’s going to be too good.
