UpdatedMarch 15, 2017, 5:30 pm EST: Mischa Barton has spoken out about the horrific turn of events involving her revenge pornography case. On Wednesday afternoon, E! News reported on the statement Barton gave to reporters, which detailed her feelings about this matter. “I just want to say I’ve been through an incredibly hard and trying time,” Barton told reporters at the law offices of the Bloom Firm. “This is a painful situation and my absolute worst fear was realized when I learned that someone I thought I loved and trusted was filming my most intimate and private moments without my consent with hidden cameras. And then I learned something even worse — that someone is trying to sell these videos and make them public.”
Barton’s statement highlights the egregious nature of this legal matter. The only hope now is that this case is resolved quickly and to the satisfaction of Barton and her legal team.

Mischa Barton is being targeted by a truly disgusting practice, and her lawyer isn’t here for it.
Barton has hired celebrity lawyer Lisa Bloom, a former anchor on Lisa Bloom: Open Court, as rumors are flying that an ex is shopping her sex tape around to different porn companies.

“I am very proud to represent actress Mischa Barton, who is courageously standing up for her rights. It has been reported that naked or sexually explicit images of Ms. Barton are being ‘shopped around.’ Ms. Barton does not consent to any disclosure of any such images. She believes that she was recorded without her consent by someone she was seeing at the time,” Bloom wrote in a statement posted to Twitter.

She continued, “There’s a name for this disgusting conduct: revenge pornography. Revenge pornography is a form of sexual assault, and it is also a crime and a civil wrong in California. And we will not stand for it. I have a message for anyone who attempts to traffic in these photos or videos of Ms. Barton: we will find you, and we will come after you. We will fully prosecute you under every available criminal and civil law. You proceed at your peril.”
Obviously, revenge porn is not OK, and in recent years, more and more states have criminalized the practice. But poor Barton has been through so much lately. Last month, she crashed a U-Haul into an apartment building. Before that, she was hospitalized after someone slipped her a date rape drug at her own birthday party.
