Another day, another milestone for the fashion-forward hit TLC show, Say Yes to the Dress.

Say Yes to the Dress will feature a transgender bride for the second time in the history of the show (the first was Precious Davis, who was on Say Yes to the Dress: Atlanta). However, it’s the first time a transgender bride has been featured on the original SYTTD. The lucky bride-to-be, New Jersey native Gabrielle Gibson, will be part of an upcoming episode tracking her special journey to the altar.
Huffington Post reports that Gibson will be married in November in a country chic wedding. The dress that Gibson ultimately landed on can be seen in her Facebook announcement that she would be featured on the show. Gibson broke the news in late February, writing, “[t]his so super exciting and surreal to me all at the same time. I litterally [sic] just wanted to go to Klinefields [sic] just to say I went there with my mom!!! And surprise next thing you know I’m picked to be on Say Yes to the Dress!!!! It was an amazing experience and the crew was an absolute dream. And I can’t wait for everyone to be apart of mine and Jaden’s story!!!”

Gibson’s excitement is infectious and she couldn’t look more beautiful in her lacy mermaid-cut gown. She definitely looks every bit the picturesque bride. It’s so heartwarming to see stories like Gibson’s being told on a show that has (almost actively, in my opinion) focused on the heteronormative aspects of shopping for bridal gowns. Gibson’s story adds a necessary but precious side to the bridal experience.

Congratulations are definitely in order for Gibson and her fiancé.
