You would think fans would be excited that Shemar Moore is returning to Criminal Minds a year after leaving the show. You would be wrong.

Moore starred on the show as FBI Agent Derek Morgan for 11 seasons before leaving last year. Now, news is out that he’ll be guest starring in the current season’s finale. But fans of the show are less into it and more bashing producers’ decision to bring Moore back. Many are saying it’s a desperate play for ratings.
“i wont b watchin! bringin Morgan back to up the ratings? SMH,” one viewer wrote on Twitter.
Another said, “I can’t find anything to back this up. #CriminalMinds, this is getting desperate if true.”

According to a press release from CBS, Moore’s storyline will play into what the entire season has been about.
“In the episode, Morgan brings the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) a lead in the case against serial killer and escaped convict Mr. Scratch, who has wreaked havoc on the team all season,” it read.
The news that Moore is returning may be disappointing some fans, but it’s not entirely surprising. Soon after his departure from the show last year, Moore told TV Guide that he would never rule out the idea of coming back to Criminal Minds.
“This business is all about politics, so I’m not promising anything,” he said. “But from a creative place, from a passionate place, if I’m asked intermittently to come back like they did at The Young and the Restless, from my heart, the answer is yes, yes, yes, yes. But I don’t know where I’m going to be in my career and my life when that time comes. But is it possible? Yes, it’s possible.”
