Simone Biles Is Totally Going to Dominate DWTS Season 24

Let’s just be honest: Simone Biles is destined for the Mirror Ball Trophy. Not only is she an Olympic gymnast, she’s the Olympic gymnast. She made history at the 2016 Olympics, and she’s bound to do so again on Dancing with the Stars — perhaps as the second gymnast in a row to capture the coveted trophy.

Biles attempted to downplay her natural abilities while preparing for this week’s tango, but she seemed right at home on the dance floor. Her tango wasn’t as flashy as some of fellow Olympian Laurie Hernandez’s numbers last season, but then again, this is the first week. Clearly, Biles has plenty of tricks up her sleeve.

The judges absolutely adored Biles’ performance; Bruno Tonioli was so engaged in her dancing, he looked like he was about to pull a page from Carrie Ann Inaba’s book and topple right out of his chair.

And then there’s Len Goodman. He’s nearly always the harshest critic, but he referred to the performance as “the dance of the night.”

Of course, whenever a contestant with any semblance of experience hits the dance floor, people freak out about their unfair advantage. Case in point: Several Twitter users were seriously peeved about Biles getting such high scores.

OK, OK, Biles is an Olympic gymnast, so dancing comes easier to her than, say, baseball player David Ross. Ultimately, though, it’s just nice to sit back and watch an exquisitely performed tango already on Night 1; we wouldn’t get to see that if DWTS screened out those who have danced or succeeded with dance-like activities.

Biles is by no means the only Season 24 competitor with an apparent advantage. We say this every season, but this is arguably the most talented cast yet. In addition to Biles, the latest DWTS cast boasts the lovely Olympic ice skater Nancy Kerrigan, Fifth Harmony’s Normani Kordei (who has been busy teaching the pros the “Work From Home” dance) and Glee‘s Heather Morris. They’re all gunning for Biles, and who knows? They might just give her a run for her money.
