How’s This Regis Philbin & Kathie Lee Gifford Reunion for Your #FlashbackFriday?

After 17 years apart, Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford just reunited!

Gifford’s co-host on the Today show, Hoda Kotb, is out on maternity leave after adopting a baby girl. But on Friday morning, Philbin filled in, and he was clearly a more than adequate replacement.

Look who’s in for Hoda-momma,” Gifford exclaimed on the show. “I’m happy you’re back — we can have some laughs now.”

Gifford and Philbin co-hosted Live with Regis and Kathie Lee from 1988 to 2000. Since then, they’ve been focusing on their own careers, though they’ve reunited occasionally on their respective shows. Now, Gifford is hosting the fourth hour of Today, and Kotb’s leave was a perfect opportunity for Philbin to stop by.

The two old friends actually used the show to test their relationship, completing a Newlywed Game-style challenge against an actual married couple to see how well they really know each other. In round 1, Gifford easily named Philbin’s favorite song, “Pennies From Heaven” by Bing Crosby. In round 2, they tied by both humbly saying that the other is the better joke teller. Ultimately, the actual married couple won by nailing each other’s phobias, something Philbin and Gifford couldn’t pull off.

Gifford shared a sweet snap of herself and Philbin on the show’s Instagram account, celebrating being reunited with her old pal. Alongside the photo, she wrote, “Spending #TryDayFriday with the one and only Regis!”
