Jennifer Garner Addresses Unauthorized Divorce BS for the Record

Updated June 1, 2017, 8:40 a.m. PT: Since Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are in the midst of a split, it’s only natural that rumors are going to fly about their ongoing divorce. Garner is not here for it, choosing to post a truthful takedown on her Facebook about a recent People magazine cover story on her divorce from Affleck and for getting up in her personal biz.

“It has been brought to my attention that there is a People magazine cover and article out today that appear to be coming from me,” Garner wrote. “It isn’t unusual for me to receive calls from loved ones thinking I forgot to tell them I am pregnant–with twins!–(Geez Louise), but those are so ridiculous they’re easy to ignore.”

She continued, “This isn’t a tragedy by any measure, but it does affect me and my family and so, before my mom’s garden club lights up her phone, I wanted to set the record straight. I did not pose for this cover. I did not participate in or authorize this article. While we are here, for what it’s worth: I have three wonderful kids and my family is complete.”

Shots fired.

Peoplereleased a statement after Garner spoke out defending its story. The statement read, “PEOPLE covers Hollywood stars beloved by our audience, and our story on Jennifer Garner is fair and truthful. To be clear, it does not include rumors and does not say she’s pregnant. We wish her well.”

Considering our deep and long-held love for Garner and Affleck, we know whose side we’re on.

We’re heartbroken that they’re splitting up, but their breakup has been so amicable and dignified, and they’ve stayed so supportive of one another from day one. They really have set the bar high for not just celeb breakups, but all breakups.

And they’re still at it. In a recent interview about his Red Nose Day involvement, Affleck was asked if he’d ever want to direct a female-led film. Being the total sweetheart that he is, he turned his answer into the sweetest compliment for his ex.

“I would love to; are you kidding me?” he answered. “I think that would be great. I’ve often said that I want to direct a movie that Jennifer was in because I think she’s so great and she could do something really cool.”

Unfortunately, that likely won’t happen any time soon. Both Affleck and Garner are pretty devoted to raising their kids, and if they worked on the same movie, neither of them would be home with the brood.

“The problem that gets in the way is that one of us has to be looking after the kids at home,” Affleck explained.

No worries, though. It’s only a little over a decade before all the Affleck-Garner kids head off to college.

“Yeah! I’ve got another however many years until college,” Affleck said. “We’re lockin’ it down for the next 13 years.”
