Donald Trump is going to be tweeting about the “failing” Game of Thrones any second now.

Those involved with the hit HBO series (and book series) haven’t been too kind to Trump as of late. In a lengthy new profile in Esquire magazine, star Kit Harington said that he “would prefer not to weigh in on American politics,” but kind of did anyway.
“Mr. Donald Trump — I wouldn’t call him President, I’ll call him Mister,” Harington said. “I think this man at the head of your country is a con artist.”
He’s not the only one who doesn’t see the president in too fond a light. George R.R. Martin, the author behind the books that inspired the hit HBO show, compared Trump to the series’ most depraved and hated leader: 13-year-old King Joffrey Baratheon.
“I think Joffrey is now the king in America,” Martin told Esquire. “And he’s grown up just as petulant and irrational as he was when he was 13 in the books.”

That might be harsher than what Harington said, because Joffrey is unequivocally the worst.
But it was the American voters who put us all in this position, and that’s kind of what we have to deal with now, Harington seemed to think. At least, that’s my interpretation of his other comments about the president and who we should maybe think about voting for or against in the future.
“Thrones can be used as a metaphor way too much, but if there’s one truth, I think, it’s that people who really desire power are the people who shouldn’t have it,” he said.
