Leah Remini and Kevin James Are Back Together for Good

The queen of Queens is back!

Variety reported today that the CBS sitcom Kevin Can Wait has brought actress Leah Remini onto the show as a permanent cast member, which means that she and Kevin James are back together. It was also confirmed by Remini herself on Instagram, saying, “Dreams do come true #blessed #grateful.”

Remini and James worked together as a married couple on King of Queens from 1998 to 2007, so the dynamic duo are sure to do great work once again. Remini has actually already had a small part on Kevin Can Wait as an undercover cop in this season’s finale, but she has been added as a series regular.

However, the same day that Remini announced her casting, actress Erinn Hayes, who plays James’ wife on the show, announced that she was let go after just one season. “True, I’ve been let go from the show,” she wrote on Twitter. “Very sad, I had a great experience season 1. Thank you for all the support from our wonderful fans.”

The reason for the switch in actresses and characters has not been specified, but the show has been signed on for a second season and is set to air on CBS on Monday, Sept. 25. Remini’s role as an undercover cop will be the same, as will her relationship with James’ character as his former partner on the force, so the show will continue to be as fun-loving as it was in its first season.
