Meryl Streep Is Being Forced to Work With Donald Trump

So, uh, Donald Trump and Meryl Streep are not fans of each other.

So, surprise! In a move that no one saw coming, they’re totally working on a project together for HBO. The Words That Built America is an Independence Day special that will feature politicians and celebs reading aloud from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. It’s directed by Alexandra Pelosi, the filmmaker daughter of Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi.

The list of participants is honestly pretty impressive. Aside from Trump and Streep, the project will include politicians Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Chris Christie. Also involved are media personalities Megyn Kelly, Sean Hannity and Anderson Cooper. There’s also a huge roster of A-list stars like Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro, Robert Redford, Bryan Cranston, Caitlyn Jenner, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Kevin Bacon, Kerry Washington, Vince Vaughn, America Ferrera, Neil Patrick Harris, Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black and Samuel L. Jackson. It’s basically like a who’s who for Hollywood and the rest of the world in a documentary form. We dig it.

While it’s honestly a little surprising that Streep and Trump would do anything that even remotely involves one another, at least they probably don’t need to be in each other’s presence for this project. Likely, they recorded their segments separately and far away from each other, which is a huge plus, because their feud is real.

And there’s an unexpected upside to this project: Since it requires reading out loud from all those political documents, it might help us finally lock down an answer to the question of whether Trump knows how to read. Win-win!
