Kesha‘s new album, Rainbow, promises to be full of rad comeback anthems. If the first single she’s dropped from it, “Praying,” is any indication, it’s also going to be full of healing and self-love. This direction would make sense — that Kesha is creating something positive — considering she has just undergone scrutiny over the last few years while she very publicly battled her former producer, Dr. Luke, in court.

But this is still Kesha we’re talking about, and if her album didn’t come with a little bit of weird, we’d probably be concerned. So thank God for this new interview she gave on the Zach Sang Show, where she told listeners what actually inspired her new album: seeing UFOs in Joshua Tree National Park.
“I was in Joshua Tree, totally sober — let me preface [this, I was] completely fucking sober… I think people would be like, ‘She was on acid’ or something. I wasn’t. I was on nothing,” she said. “I swear to God, there were like five to seven, and I don’t know why I didn’t, like, try to take a picture of it — I just looked at it. I was sitting on a rock, and I was like, ‘What in the hell is that?'”

Kesha continued, “I was trying to figure it out, and then they went away… I was like, ‘Those are fucking aliens.’ They were spaceships.” And there you have it. Basically, Rainbow will most likely be inspired by aliens.
According to New Zealand’s News Hub, one of the tracks will be called “Spaceship,” and the cover art will feature several alien spacecraft.
Also, #NeverForget that time Kesha casually dropped this knowledge on Instagram.
