If ever Chip and Joanna Gaines handed out a cutesy nickname that was painfully prophetic, it’s the “Three Little Pigs” house the HGTV husband-and-wife duo renovated on Season 3 — in a truly unfortunate twist, a car came along and blew the Fixer Upper house down.

Part of it, at least. But before we delve any further into the unfortunate details, let’s take a minute to rejoice in the fact that homeowners Ken and Kelly Downs were not injured during the crash.
Their poor (beautiful!) house, of course, did not fare so well when a man suspected of drunk driving plowed through their yard and ultimately landed his car in the front room office of the couple’s Waco, Texas, home. According to local news reports, the crash occurred early Saturday morning.
“The yard is built up several feet, and he hit the embankment of the yard, apparently went airborne, and like a lot of older homes, this house was built up off the ground, so he cleared the rest of the yard. He didn’t hurt the hedges, but he took out the railing on the porch and went right into the window of the front room and hit an interior wall that might be a load-bearing wall,” Waco Assistant Fire Chief Don Yeager stated.

Yikes! Can you imagine?
That kind of terrifying wake-up call would be enough to make anyone, ahem, shiplap their pants — especially considering the Downses were sleeping in the next bedroom over.
Fortunately, the driver won’t be destroying more dentil molding anytime soon. Firefighters on scene detained 31-year-old Allen Wayne Miller until police arrived, at which time he was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. After that, though, he was taken to jail on a DWI charge.
To make matters more complicated, interviews with the homeowners following the crash reveal that they felt their adorable Gaines-reno’ed abode was a catastrophe waiting to happen. “It’s like the Wild West here,” Kelly told the local paper. “There’s been a lot of commotion coming from the bars and the store across the street. It’s been a problem from the beginning.”

Granted, the Downes did, you know, choose the house and all. Still — more so than ever in the wake of a car parking in their home office — the couple contends “this is a Fixer Upper gone bad.”
