Tamron Hall Is Returning to Television With Her Own Talk Show

Former NBC and Today personality Tamron Hall is finally getting her own talk show. The anchor left NBC back in February after finding out that her hourlong segment on Today with Al Roker was being replaced by Megyn Kelly’s new show. Now, she’s looking to move on to bigger and better things for herself.

The project doesn’t have a title or main network yet, but it will include current events, human-interest pieces and interviews with celebrities and newsmakers according to The Weinstein Company. She will co-create and executive-produce the new show.

Hall’s new boss, Harvey Weinstein, recently said in a statement, “I’ve been working towards developing a talk show for along time, but needed to make sure I did it the right way and with the right person to take the lead. Tamron is far and away that person. She’s an exceptionally talented journalist whose interviews masterfully walk the line between entertainment and hard-hitting. We couldn’t be more thrilled to begin this new venture with her.”

Hall’s exit from NBC was not well received, with some arguing that Megyn Kelly’s transition to the network might have forced her out. In light of this, Hall talked about her work and her place in the industry and how that coincides with self-worth at this year’s Women’s Business Enterprise National Council’s Summit Salute. “It’s a job. It doesn’t define me. It doesn’t determine what I do… how I treat people. When your card no longer says anything beneath it but your name, are you still you? Can you still savor the victory — the moment that you were able to take that dream? I never imagined that I would be on the Today show.”

Though Katie Couric and Meredith Vieira’s spinoff talk shows didn’t quite take to the daytime TV spectrum, Tamron Hall’s personality and type of work could work out differently for the new host. This signals a new beginning for Hall, and while she’s in the good company of women forging their own path, it will be especially exciting to see what the future holds for her.
