Adjusting to life as new parents can always be a roller-coaster time in the lives of a couple. New feeding times, diapers and generally making sure your newborn is happy and healthy are just some of the things that require a period of adjustment. But for celebrity couple and first-time parents George and Amal Clooney, having a date night is still just as important as caring for their newborn twins, Ella and Alexander.

People magazine reported on Wednesday that arguably Hollywood’s most handsome couple went out for a lovely, low-key date night in Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, Italy, on Tuesday night. Paparazzi photos from the evening captured the pair walking through the stone-paved streets of the Italian town looking relaxed and happy in one another’s company. Amal wore a beautifully simple yellow dress while George, who took her hand at one point (are you swooning yet?) wore the hell out of a short-sleeved white shirt and some dark jeans. It would also appear, according to the report, the Clooneys were on a double date with producer Ben Weiss and Weiss’ date.

An onlooker went on record to tell People that the couple was warmly welcomed by everyone at their restaurant of choice for the night, Il Gatto Nero, which is apparently a favorite of the Clooneys. “Everyone was so excited to see him and Amal for dinner. They got many hugs and a lot of love. Amal looked gorgeous and didn’t look the slightest bit tired. She kept smiling and looked so happy.”

It’s so nice to hear that this couple is finding time for themselves while getting used to this new phase in their lives as parents. While it’s always good to be a dedicated parent, there has been discussion in some parenting circles about the value of striking the right balance between being a parent and having private time for yourself. The Clooneys give the impression they’ve got that balance down pat.
