On Wednesday evening, news broke that Republican Senator John McCain was diagnosed with brain cancer. At 80, the tough-as-nails politician now appears to be facing a tough road ahead of him. Luckily, he has support coming out in droves, with his family, friends, celebrities and two former POTUS’s sending their thoughts and prayers to him during this time.

Barack Obama was among the many to immediately send out his own thoughts and prayers via Twitter on Wednesday. The former POTUS, who has kept one foot firmly in the political arena while he balances a still-busy work schedule with some much needed R&R, was his usual thoughtful self in his words for McCain while also providing some toughness. “John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I’ve ever known. Cancer doesn’t know what it’s up against. Give it hell, John,” he tweeted out. Amazing.
