Just after news broke that Kaling is expecting her first baby, she hit the red carpet at the Television Critics Association summer press tour to promote the final season of her hit Hulu series, The Mindy Project. Talking to reporters alongside her co-star Ike Barinholtz and executive producer Matt Warburton, Kaling revealed some upcoming details about the final episodes of the show, including that her character is going to face some mom-shaming.
“Marriage was a big [goal] for Mindy and now finally has it, and what’s fun about this season is showing the reality of marriage and what lived up to expectations and what didn’t — and then frankly getting disillusioned with it over the course of the season,” Kaling shared.

Warburton then added some details about a specific plot that involves Modern Family star Julie Bowen, who will appear on The Mindy Project during its final season.
“I think she’s going to learn a little bit more about how to be a good, involved parent,” Warburton explained. “We have a really funny episode where Julie Bowen plays a rival mother who thinks that Mindy’s not doing that great of a job.”
If there’s one thing the internet loves, it’s shaming moms, especially celeb moms. Kaling probably won’t be immune from it, which makes this storyline even more poignant in light of her baby news.

Now, if only she would tell us who her baby daddy is. As much as we love Mindy Project details, that’s what we’re really dying to know.
