It’s always interesting when political royalty meets real royalty, and that should definitely be the case this September, when First Lady Melania Trump will meet the United Kingdom’s Prince Harry. The two will both be attending the third annual Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada, in which hundreds of wounded veterans from 17 countries around the world compete in a ten sports, ranging from track and field to car racing. Prince Harry, who served in the UK’s military for a decade, organized and launched the event in 2014 after he attended the Warrior Games in the United States.
Melania will lead the United States’ delegation of 90 athletes to the competition. Her spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, said that Melania would meet Prince Harry during the week-long event.
The Invictus games and Prince Harry are already getting a lot of celebrity press since the event is taking place in Toronto this year, the home of American actor Meghan Markle, who currently films her show Suits in the city. The couple has been dating for almost a year, and many are waiting for an engagement announcement, especially since rumors spread that Markle asked the Suits producers to write her out of the show so that she could spend more time with her beau.

At this time, none of the Trumps have met any members of the royal family since Donald Trump was elected in January. The U.S. President usually meets the Queen at some point in his mid-term, but nothing has been schedule so far between the two parties.
Could a meeting between Melania and Harry be awkward? It sure could. Although Melania has a much better track record than her husband when it comes to avoiding socially awkward moments, the royal family and the First family have a few points of awkwardness in their history that might factor in to the official introduction.

First and perhaps most troubling is the the rumors that Donald Trump pursued Princess Diana after her marriage with Prince Charles became sour. According to Diana’s friend and broadcaster Selina Scott, Trump sent hundreds of dollars of flowers to Diana, causing Diana to say, “He gives me the creeps.”
Secondly, Donald Trump has been critical of Harry’s sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. After Middleton was photographed nude on a beach in 2012 by paparazzi hidden in the bushes, Trump said she deserved it.
Kate Middleton is great–but she shouldn't be sunbathing in the nude–only herself to blame.

Finally, Harry’s dad, Prince Charles, is an outspoken supporter of inter-faith peace. While he hasn’t talked publicly about Trump’s stance on immigration and the Muslim faith, we might be able to guess his thoughts.
However, both Melania Trump and Prince Harry will be there for the Games and both have a history of manners. Maybe this will be a time to mend awkwardness between the families.
Prince Harry has met Michelle Obama twice – once on a trip to Washington, DC, in 2013 and again two years later when she and the girls stopped by the Palace for tea during a private trip.
