If it seems like all the best shows are on Netflix lately, that’s because they are. The streaming giant’s latest binge-worthy acquisition is a new, six-episode talk show from late-night king David Letterman.

The Hollywood Reporter says his new show, premiering in 2018, will consist of prerecorded hourlong episodes, unlike his live stint on late-night TV. Letterman will do long-form interviews with guests (none of whom have been announced yet) and report on topics outside of the studio. We’re getting a real talk-show-meets-60-Minutes vibe here, and we like it. Never mind the fact that it’s been two years since Letterman left The Late Show and he’s clearly ready for a return to TV.

Even though the new show doesn’t have a title yet, Letterman is already hyping it. “I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project for Netflix. Here’s what I have learned: if you retire to spend more time with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely,” he told THR.
So what will Letterman’s show look like? We’re not really sure. It could be similar to Chelsea Handler’s Netflix talk show, where she combines studio interviews with trips to other countries to investigate and try new things. What we do know is that with Letterman at the helm, it’ll be a must-watch. Over his 33-year cable career, he hosted more than 6,000 episodes of late-night talk TV, collecting numerous awards along the way for his efforts. Nearly 14 million people tuned in to see his farewell episode in 2015, so it makes sense that another network would want to capitalize on his popularity.
