The Great American Eclipse came, it saw and it definitely conquered — social media, that is. Seemingly everyone under the sun shared status updates about the rare celestial occurrence, including a bevy of celebrities. And just like the rest of us, they were officially star-struck (do you see what I did there?).

It’s only natural to geek out, after all. Not only was Monday’s eclipse the first total solar eclipse in the U.S. since 1979, it’s also the first total solar eclipse in U.S. history that crossed from coast to coast. We won’t have another visible total solar eclipse in America until April 8, 2024, and that one will only be visible in certain states from Texas to New England.
So, yeah, it merited all the praise hand emojis. Plus, the fringe benefit for us mere mortals was the fact that we got to see celebrities totally freak out right alongside the rest of us — some more unintentionally hilariously than others.
