Kesha exploded back onto the pop scene this year with the release of her first album since 2012, Rainbow, which included the absolutely triumphant heartfelt lead single “Praying.”

She didn’t perform at this year’s VMAs, but she did give a moving speech and introduce some other artists. Regardless of her spot in the ceremony, though, it turns out that someone at the VMAs “lost” her seat.

We don’t have a lot of details, but what’s clear is that Kesha was not sitting in a chair after a certain point during the show. Kesha tweeted a photo of herself and her date sitting on the floor at the event, with the caption, “the vmas lost our seats so,” and used a lot of Champagne and nail-painting emojis to show that she was making the best out of an uncomfortable situation.

She later posted another photo to Instagram showing her watching the show from her seat on the floor, her pink tulle skirt gathered around her and looking pretty comfy from her unconventional vantage point. What a trooper, just going with the flow like that.

Despite that weird snafu, Kesha gave a moving speech about suicide prevention as she introduced Logic’s song “1-800-273-8255,” named after the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.

“It has been said that if you knew who walked beside you, you would never experience fear and doubt again,” she said, adding that listening to Logic’s song brought her to tears. “The truth is piercing and the truth is what matters. The truth is none of us are alone,” she told the crowd. You can always count on Kesha to find the silver lining, regardless of the situation.
