With such a long break between Sunday’s Game of Thrones season finale and the start of the next (and final!) season, you might be wondering what the stars have planned. A nice long vacation? Not for Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow on the HBO hit.

Harington is taking full advantage of the two years between now and the start of Season 8 — by starring in a new series. Refinery 29 reports that Harington is signed on to star alongside Liv Tyler in Gunpowder, a historical drama series on BBC One.
The new show centers around what’s now known as Guy Fawkes Day in the U.K. — a time in the 17th century when a group of people conspired to assassinate King James I by blowing up the House of Lords. Harington plays Robert Catesby, the leader of the group. Tyler plays Anne Vaux, Catesby’s cousin, who unintentionally gets caught up in the plan. Downton Abbey‘s Tom Cullen will join them as Guy Fawkes.

BBC One is already capitalizing on Harington’s popularity from GoT and posted the first teaser for Gunpowder on Facebook with the tag line, “Autumn is coming.”

For those who are already finding it tough to see Jon Snow Harington in a new role, it might help to know that this is a project near and dear to his heart. His own company, Thriker Films, is producing the series, and he helped develop it. And don’t worry at all about it interfering with GoT — Gunpowder is only a three-part series, so he’ll be wrapped up long before he needs to focus on the HBO hit, which isn’t premiering until 2019.
