And the latest A-lister to pledge her support is big-hearted Sandra Bullock, who just donated $1 million.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Bullock’s pledge went directly to the Red Cross. The organization has been instrumental in assisting victims in Houston and the surrounding areas. “There are no politics in eight feet of water. There are human beings in eight feet of water,” Bullock told People of the donation.
In a separate statement, she added, “I’m just grateful I can do it. We have to take care of one another.”

In response to Bullock’s generous donation, the American Red Cross voiced their deep appreciation to People. “This is an incredible gift. We’re so thankful. It’s times like this when we do receive such an incredible amount of support. Especially during times of disaster, people see what’s happening in Texas and our hearts all go out to them. Having someone like Sandra Bullock make this kind of commitment, it helps bring people together and open their hearts and be even more generous,” said Elizabeth Penniman, the organization’s vice president of communications.
The crisis in Houston hits close to home for Bullock, quite literally. The actor has a second residence in Austin, the city in which her sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, runs a successful bakery.
But Bullock’s philanthropic efforts reach far beyond the scope of her personal connections. Since 2001, she has reportedly donated a total of more than $5 million toward relief efforts following various disasters — a feat that has largely gone unnoticed, as Bullock never seeks recognition.
