EW broke the news on Friday that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Rinna is returning to DOOL as Billie Reed. Rinna’s return marks another actor coming back to Salem under new head writer Ron Carlivati.
Carlivati is delivering exactly what the fans want — legacy characters. His list of returning characters includes Sami Brady, Will Horton and Eve Donovan. It’s making DOOL must-see television this fall.
As for Rinna, she began taping her episodes this week, so her episodes will not be seen until the early part of 2018. Of course, NBC and Rinna have kept mum so far on her visit to Salem, but it’s sure to be something extra.

Rinna first appeared on DOOL as Billie in 1992 and departed in 1995. She bounced in and out of the role in the early 2000s and again in 2012-2013. Two other actresses, Krista Allen and Julie Pinson, have played the character, but Billie is most closely associated with Rinna.
Don’t forget that Rinna isn’t the only RHOBH star who is coming back to DOOL.Eileen Davidson left the Bravo reality show to focus on her two scripted roles on DOOL and The Young and the Restless.

Davidson addressed the leave of absence to her fans on Instagram in July.
“After a lot of thought, because of my crazy scheds at YR and DOOL, I’ve decided it’s best for me and my fam to step away from being a housewife for now,” she wrote on her Instagram page. “But ya never know! I might be popping in to see what the ladies are up to from time to time! Thanks for your love and support guys!!!!”
It’s not clear how long Rinna will appear on DOOL, but Davidson’s return to the soap is seen as temporary. Either way, Salem is about to be sipping lots of tea and stirring the pot with these two ladies in town.
