The couple chose to make their grand debut at the Venice Film Festival’s premiere of Suburbicon, which George directed as well as co-produced and co-wrote with the Coen brothers. One of George’s closest friends, Matt Damon, stars in the movie and was also in attendance.

Amal wowed in a lovely, lilac-hued custom Atelier Versace gown. She complemented the look with pearl-drop earrings and an Old Hollywood-esque faux bob. George dressed the part too, opting for a classic black tux and dark aviator shades.

George and Amal might be new to the whole parenting scene, but the high-profile pair seems to be taking everything in stride so far.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, George opened up about how becoming a dad has changed him, saying, “None of it is real until all of a sudden they’re standing there covered in slime and crying. You’re like, wait a minute, what is that? We were just two and now we’re four. Everything changes pretty quickly.”

The proud new father of two also opened up about the twins’ budding personalities.

“They start out with a personality right off the bat. [Alexander] is a thug already. He’s a moose! Literally, he just sits and he eats,” Clooney said, adding of Ella, “She’s very elegant, and all eyes. She looks like Amal, thank God.”
