Updated Oct. 11, 2017, 12:30 p.m. PT:Matt Damon has finally broken his silence about his connection to Harvey Weinstein, who has been fired from his company following allegations of decades of sexual misconduct.
Damon has worked with Weinstein throughout his career, and told Deadline Tuesday, “We know this stuff goes on in the world. I did five or six movies with Harvey. I never saw this.”
He added, “This morning, I just feel absolutely sick to my stomach.”
Damon has been called out by Rose McGowan, who accuses him of helping cover up Weinstein’s behavior for more than 10 years. A journalist for The Wrap also claimed Damon helped kill a story she wrote for TheNew York Times about Weinstein’s alleged abuse of women in 2004.
Updated Oct. 10, 9 a.m. PT: Rose McGowan, who was paid a $100,000 settlement after accusing Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment in 1997, is now urging others in Hollywood to speak out, particularly Ben and Casey Affleck and Matt Damon, all of whom have been implicated for helping kill past stories about the decades of allegations against Weinstein.
In a tweet naming members of the Weinstein Company’s board, McGowan wrote, “They knew. They funded. They advised. They covered up. They must be exposed. They must resign.” She also tagged Damon, writing, “Hey @mattdamon what’s it like to be a spineless profiteer who stays silent?”

McGowan also retweeted the article that original claimed so many of Hollywood’s A-list actors were complicit in covering up Weinstein’s alleged misdeeds, writing, “Have u seen this article? Do u realise how deep the cover ups go? Then u wonder why its taken so long.”
In yet another tweet, she tagged the Affleck brothers, writing, “Ben Affleck Casey Affleck, how’s your morning boys?”

McGowan is only one of many women who are alleged victims of Weinstein’s, as detailed in a bombshell exposé published in the New York Times late last week.
Original story:
In response to the explosive sexual harassment allegations against Harvey Weinstein, Jessica Chastain took to Twitter to express her disdain over the disgraceful news. And in doing so, the outspoken feminist revealed her heartbreak over the reported connection of her co-star in The Martian, Matt Damon.

On Oct. 9, Vulture illuminated a feature on The Wrap claiming The New York Times — which is being lauded for exposing Weinstein’s history of abuse — squashed information about the movie mogul’s misconduct… more than a decade ago.
According to Sharon Waxman, TheWrap‘s founder, she submitted an exposé to the Times in 2004. The result of her own investigative research (as a then-reporter for the Times), the story took her around the world following rumors and provided evidence of Weinstein’s reprehensible behavior.
“I traveled to Rome and tracked down the man who held the plum position of running Miramax Italy,” Waxman wrote of her run-in with Fabrizio Lombardo. “According to multiple accounts, he had no film experience and his real job was to take care of Weinstein’s women needs, among other things.”
Waxman alleges that in the original story she had also included testimony from a woman who’d reached a settlement with Weinstein following an unwanted sexual encounter.

However, Waxman’s story never ran — and she claims that Matt Damon and Russell Crowe called her directly “to vouch for Lombardo” and contribute to the intense pressure that got the story canned. On Monday, the Times‘ executive editor Dean Baquet denied the publication would suppress a story due to pressure from an advertiser like Weinstein or anyone on his behalf.
In response to the initial news about Weinstein, Chastain posted a scathing tweet calling for the men of Hollywood to use their voices to condemn Weinstein too.
Yes. Im sick of the media demanding only women speak up. What about the men? Perhaps many are afraid to look at their own behavior….. https://t.co/tGUsjUYNMR

But when Chastain came across the Vulture piece outlining Waxman’s account of Damon’s involvement, only three words would do: “This is heart shattering.”

Damon’s camp has yet to issue a statement regarding Waxman’s story or respond to Chastain’s tweet at this time.
