The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday tradition that began in 1924. For three hours each Thanksgiving, floats, performers and balloons march through Manhattan for the 3.5 million people watching in person and more than 44 million people watching from home. This year will mark the 91st time the parade has delighted fans of all ages.
In 2017, five new floats are being introduced, and we have a sneak peak.

Shimmer and Shine
The Nickelodeon show gets the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade treatment. Shimmer and Shine are twins and genies in training, and they like to grant wishes to their BFF, Leah, but it doesn’t always go smoothly. Adding a bit of mischief to the float is Dance Moms star Jojo Siwa, who is always filled with energy and enthusiasm.
Green Giant’s Harvest
Green Giant’s participation is fitting for a Thanksgiving Day parade because many vegetables will be consumed at the dinner. Country singer Lauren Alaina will be making an appearance on the Green Giant float.

Celebrate with Entenmann’s
Who can object to a float with a bakery? This two-story float required more than 15 gallons of paint and took hundreds of hours to complete. Country singer Sara Evans is scheduled to appear on the float.
Sour Patch Kids’ Parade Day Mischief
The Sour Patch Kids might be small, but their float certainly isn’t — it’s three stories high and 32 feet long. If you look carefully, it’s actually a replica of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Joining the Sour Patch Kids will be Latin singer Nicky Jam.
Sprout’s Universal Playground
Sprout’s Universal Playground should be a special float because America’s Got Talent runner-up Angelica Hale is performing on it. She is also the first kid ambassador of the National Kidney Foundation after receiving a life-saving kidney transplant from her mother in 2013. Hale had multiple organ failures after contracting severe bacterial pneumonia in 2011.

While the Broadway cast of Anastasia won’t be on a float, they will be performing live in front of the Macy’s storefront. Try not to cry as producer Tom Kirdahy tells star Christy Altomare that she will be singing at the parade. He even gets her parents involved in the tear-jerking moment.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicks off the holiday season on Thursday at 9 a.m. ET on NBC.
