Johnny Galecki’s Officially Joining Another TV Show

Good news, Johnny Galecki fans: Starting next year, you’ll be able to get your fix of the Big Bang Theory star on the Roseanne revival, too.

While rumors have been circulating that Galecki was in talks to join the blue-collar sitcom, executive producer Whitney Cummings just laid those whispers to rest with a snapshot shared to her Instagram story showing the actor’s on-set chair. She tagged Galecki in the post, also adding a praise hands emoji.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Roseanne Barr actually spilled the beans earlier in the week, gushing in a since-deleted tweet, “We have got our Johnny Galecki back on Roseanne this episode — what a joy to work with such a deeply empathetic actor. Very moving 4 all of us. #JOY.”

That’s right, y’all, David is back.

Of course, this (along with many of the casting announcements so far) raises some important questions. When the series’ original run ended, a final shocking twist suggested the family’s entire life was fabricated — Roseanne Conner (played by Barr) had apparently just written it all.

In real life, David and Darlene (Sara Gilbert) didn’t exist, despite having had their first child together in the final season. That arc also revealed that Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) was a lesbian and that the family patriarch, Dan (John Goodman), was dead.

TBH, it was a lot to wrap our heads around then. Knowing Galecki and Goodman have signed on for the series’ return, we’re still trying to process the potential meaning of these developments.

As for Galecki’s role, here’s what we do know: David and Darlene will have at least two children, as Ames McNamara has been cast as 8-year-old Mark and Shameless‘ Emma Kenney has been cast as their teenage daughter, Harris.

It’s unclear at this time whether Galecki will be a series regular or make appearances as his shooting schedule with The Big Bang Theory allows. The Roseanne reboot is slated to air sometime in 2018.
