Christopher Meloni & Mariska Hargitay Reunited but Clearly Forgot to Alert Us

If ever you needed a sign that this holiday season is going to be a good one, look no further than the whereabouts of the Law & Order: SVU family and, in particular, Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay. The former costars have become thick as thieves over the years, with their bonds of friendship cemented so firmly that at this point, they’re basically bonded for life. And while we’ve celebrated their reunions over the years, especially since Meloni left SVU, there was something extra special about his and Hargitay’s reunion at the Happy premiere party earlier this week.

Hargitay’s photo is a little blurrier than Meloni’s, but it does a good job of showcasing just how happy these two were when they met up at the premiere party for Meloni’s new show on Syfy, Happy. Posted to her Instagram, Hargitay’s caption reads, “‘Tis the season… ran into this #HAPPY man,” which has the added bonus of a nice bit of wordplay on the title of his show. You guys, I’m not joking when I tell you that you can literally feel the warmth radiating off of this photo.

And of course, Meloni had to post his own photo to his own Instagram page. A little more in focus but just as precious, Meloni stuck to hashtags to express his feelings about seeing his close friend (while still promoting his new show: “#Friends #Seehappy #jingleHells.”

Meloni’s SVU days are clearly and firmly behind him as he dives into a more unconventional and darkly comedic role in Happy. His character is a hardened ex-cop-turned-hitman who dies, comes back to life and is then aided by an imaginary friend in finding a missing girl. But if Happy is anything like the trailer, it’s going to be way more rough around the edges than anything on SVU.

All I can say is that this reunion is full-on adorable, and anytime these two want to reunite, it’s all right with me.
