With the Golden Globes rapidly approaching, there’s been one question on all our minds: How will host Seth Meyers handle the political garbage fire that was 2017? The line between politics and Hollywood became more blurred than ever when a reality TV star assumed the presidency and Harvey Weinstein saw his career end in a flurry of sexual assault and harassment allegations, with Brett Ratner, Kevin Spacey and others soon to follow. Needless to say, Meyers has a lot to discuss.

But in an interview with People magazine, Meyers revealed he’s planning to focus more on Hollywood than Washington, D.C.
“With the monologue, as far as talking about anything in the news right now, it seems like this year more than ever Hollywood has its own internal politics that obviously deserve to be talked about,” he said. “Going into it our focus is far more on the worlds that make these films and less on anything that’s happening in Washington.”

Still, that doesn’t mean Trump is going to be completely off the hook.
“He holds the keys to us not talking about him, which would to be to just behave differently,” Meyers continued. “But while he continues on this path, we’ll continue on ours.”
It’s no less than what we would expect from Meyers, who is definitely no stranger to getting political. He takes on the president and whatever other political issues happen to be in the news pretty regularly on Late Night with Seth Meyers. But the rampant sexual misconduct allegations that have come from Hollywood in recent months certainly deserve as much of the spotlight as possible.

Meyers will take the stage to host the Golden Globes live on Jan. 7.
