While it is not entirely unexpected that talk show host Wendy Williams is in the headlines again for saying something outrageous or shady, it is unexpected this time around because she is talking about a celebrity’s rumored unborn child. The celebrity in question is Kylie Jenner, and on Williams’ show on Wednesday, she made some questionable remarks about Jenner’s alleged baby.

The messiness began at the top of Williams’ show. In the video below, around the 2:00 mark, Williams transitions from talking about how sweet Khloé Kardashian’s pregnancy confirmation photo was to focusing on Jenner’s rumored fractured relationship with her boyfriend, rapper Travis Scott. What follows is a deeply uncomfortable, seemingly unprovoked and catty diatribe about Jenner’s current retreat from the public eye and her rumored pregnancy. It should be noted up front that neither Jenner nor anyone related to her has confirmed the pregnancy, nor has there been any cause for concern about the solidity of her relationship with Scott.
As Williams moved from Kardashian to Jenner’s reticence to confirm her rumored pregnancy, she described her own (unfounded) theory as to why. “Well, why do you think?” she asked her studio audience. “I guessed right away: because she’s not with Travis Scott anymore.” This statement appears to get a reaction out of the crowd, which in turn, only seems to encourage Williams.
“Please, that was a split and run, in my mind. Like, the condom split, she took the test and was probably like, ‘Oh my god, what am I going to do now? Travis!’ He’s like, ‘No, I’m a rock star. I got no part of that. You got plenty of money on your own, figure it out on your own.’ That’s how people cavalierly treat pregnancy,” Williams concluded.

Then, Williams launched into a digression about what Jenner’s rumored child might look like when they are born. “You can do whatever you want to yourself, but the baby’s still gonna look like the old you,” she commented, likely referring to the cosmetic surgery Jenner has confirmed having.
This is, for a variety of reasons, unconscionable behavior from Williams. Not only is it harsh to say these kinds of things about Jenner when she is not there to comment or defend herself, but it is cruel to say these things because they take aim at her not-confirmed-to-exist unborn child.

Listen, it is not wrong to wonder why Jenner, one of the most public figures we have these days, has metaphorically gone underground in recent months. With no official statement from her or anyone around her, speculation will run wild. But to bring a child into this commentary? To take cheap shots at the stability of a relationship that we know nothing about? That kind of behavior is just not OK.
