Did This Stranger Things Couple Just Tease Big News About Season 3?

Stranger Things‘ Charlie Heaton (aka Jonathan) just shared a sweet shoutout to costar Natalia Dyer (aka Nancy) for her 21st birthday, and there are two things we can ascertain from his post. No. 1, this TV-turned-real-life couple couldn’t be any cuter if they tried. And, No. 2, Heaton possibly just clued Stranger Things fans into some big news.

Heaton showed the loved — and perhaps spilled some beans — on Instagram, where he posted a predictably adorable picture of Dyer bundled up and holding a piece of birthday cake. “Happy 21st birthday! @nattyiceofficial I hope it’s a great one and I’m stoked to be working on this new series with you,” Heaton wrote. “I think it’s gonna be great. P.S. – Not feeling too well but I still want to meet you at Piedmont Park tonight.”

So, they’re precious, right? We’ll start with that. Then we need to talk about the major hint Heaton dropped. As one fan questioned in the comment section, “Wait is this series 3 of Stranger Things that there [sic] working on?”

It seems like a logical assumption. Admittedly, the phrasing could cause some confusion, as “series” in the U.S. typically refers to the show as a whole and “season” to the individual years of filming. However, Heaton is from the U.K., where “series” is typically the preferred word for the individual years of filming a particular show.

Although, if we’re really being honest, it would be pretty fantastic if the “new series” Heaton referred to in his birthday post was actually a new show altogether. Who wouldn’t be down to watch these two talented actors on-screen together more?

That seems less likely though than Heaton’s “new series” actually referring to Season 3 of Stranger Things.

David Harbour (aka Chief Hopper) already broke the news fans would likely have to wait awhile for the next installment, saying, “Like, you probably won’t get [Season 3] until sometime in 2019. But also part of the thing is, like any good thing, they need time. And those guys work so hard. I mean, they just sit in their apartment and write for 12, 14 hours a day.” But Heaton could simply be referring to the fact that they will be shooting a third season soon.

And hey, if he happens to have revealed that production on the third season started early, well, that would make us like this cute Stranger Things couple even more.
