Former Real Housewives of New York star Jill Zarin is mourning the tragic loss of her husband, but still managing to find beauty in what must be some of the hardest days of her life. “Rest In Peace my love,” she began. “Words can not express the hole in my heart. Bobby taught me what true and deep love is. Thank you my love for sharing your life with me.. for raising Allyson as if she was your own, being an amazing father and grandfather and teaching me how to be a better person. You inspire those around you to be the best they can be. I will never forget you… your legacy lives on through your beautiful children and grandchildren.”

In the wake of this tragic loss, Zarin also opened up to People magazine about the family’s first days without him. “He’s here. He’s here through his children. He’s here through his friends,” she said. “I think it’s really going to take time to realize that he’s not here.”

Bobby, 71, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2009 and was quietly fighting it since that initial diagnosis. As part of his treatment, he had his thyroid removed and underwent years of radiation and other treatments. At one point, the Zarin family thought he was cured, but the cancer eventually returned and spread to his lungs and then his brain. He died Saturday.

Zarin, their three kids and many family and friends gathered Monday to celebrate Bobby’s life, and Jill spoke emotionally about their bond throughout their 18-year marriage.

“He never said no to me. I once asked him for something a little more outrageous and I said, ‘Can I have it?’ and he said, ‘You think I’m going to say no to you — and start now — when in 18 years I have never said no to you?'” she said. “We were soulmates. Beyond. We could complete each other’s sentences. Bobby was always right.”

She continued, “I don’t know what I’m going to do without him because he always made sure I didn’t forget anything. He would always close the cabinets or the refrigerator … he always finished everything I started.”
