While presenting the award — or “actor,” as the SAG Awards statues are called — for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Larson ran into some trouble with the teleprompter. “Here are the nominees for actors, well, you just passed… OK,” she said as she read the screen. She then quipped to the crowd, “I hope you know what the category is because they just passed it.”
As the teleprompter reversed so Larson could read the nominees, she and Nyong’o couldn’t contain their amusement. When the teleprompter was finally ready, Nyong’o succinctly said, “Here are the nominees,” at which point she and Larson burst out laughing, with the latter joking, “This is going so well.”

If we’re really being honest, though, the slip-up proved to be a nice moment of levity in an otherwise serious night. (Watch the hilarious interaction here.)
And while Larson and Nyong’o didn’t exactly pass their teleprompter task with flying colors, they did deliver a big dose of magic just moments prior — before presenting the award, the pair revealed that SAG has created a new code of conduct for sets so that actors can feel safe from sexual misconduct.

Larson and Nyong’o are both past SAG Award winners. Larson won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for The Room in 2016, while Nyong’o won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for 12 Years a Slave in 2014.
