When most people are sick, they hunker down at home beneath a dozen blankets, clutching their meds and a tissue box. But then again, Pink isn’t most people — and the quintessential rock star proved it when she took the mic at Super Bowl LII to sing the heck out of the national anthem, despite struggling with the flu.

A Philadelphia native, Pink doesn’t shy away from her Eagles fandom. So, when she found out her hometown team made it to the Super Bowl, she was understandably thrilled at the possibility of kicking off the big game.
Until, that is, raising tiny humans took its toll.
Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Pink shared a photo of herself bundled up on the field during rehearsal “trying to practice the flu away.”

She went on to explain, “I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come. And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear!”
Despite the sickly setback, though, Pink couldn’t help but gush about the experience — and the little germ incubators that helped turn one of her dreams into “a sort of nightmare.”

“I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad, and brother and step mama and family and the world. And the EAGLES!?!?!,” Pink wrote. “I promise I will do my best, as I always do. As far as the gremlins that got me into this mess, you can cough at me for the rest of your lives. If it’s a contest, babies, you win.”
Aw, can Pink be president yet? That’s a presidential nomination we could get behind. Until then, we’ll happily settle for watching her conquer any hurdles, which is precisely what she did at the Super Bowl.
Delivering a stellar rendition of the national anthem, Pink wowed the crowd and her fans — including fellow celebrities, who gushed over the performance on Twitter.
“#SuperBowl52 @Pink just killed it! Best I’ve ever heard!” Sheryl Crow exclaimed.

Ellen DeGeneres, who’d already expressed her excitement to see the rocker sing, was enamored with the performance.
.@Pink, you are amazing. Always.

And Max called her a “queen,” while Josh Groban deemed her performance “goals.”

But don’t just take their word for it. Check it out for yourself and prepare to be blown away by Pink’s badassery (note how she chucks the cough drop just before belting the song out).
Delivering such a phenomenal performance must have perked Pink up a little, because the rock star seemed in good spirits later in the evening when she posted a picture of Justin Timberlake’s halftime performance, joking, “Get it @justintimberlake I’ve been opening for you since I started lol and I’m not even mad.”

Add in the fact that her beloved Eagles went on to defeat the New England Patriots, it’s safe to say that Pink came out a winner tonight.
