Jessica Simpson is either dehydrated or suffering from a bad case of too many lip injections — or so Instagram commenters would have us believe.
Simpson posted a selfie on Instagram this week that sparked some serious backlash. In the photo, Simpson is puckering up her lips in some glam shades as she strolls down the street to reach 12,000 steps a day, and she’s encouraging others to do the same.

Rather than focusing on her healthy efforts, however, the Internet has decided instead to focus on Simpson’s pucker, which she even recognizes is a #SandpaperSmooch in her caption.
The comments seem to suggest that Simpson’s use of lip injections has somehow damaged her pucker, causing the dry lips.
But Simpson hasn’t even confirmed whether or not she uses lip injections. Allure reports that Simpson hasn’t publicly commented on her use of injections since 2006, when she said, “I had that Restylane stuff. But it fades — it went away in like four months. My lips are back to what they were. Thank God! It looked fake to me. I didn’t like that.”

Juvederm, the popular brand for lip injections, addresses lip dryness on its site, saying it’s rare to experience dry or bleeding lips following injections. However, many users report experiencing dryness following procedures.
Simpson has yet to comment on the latest backlash behind her puckered photo.
Critic and lip injection debates aside, Simpson’s post also served to inspire commenters to get moving, as it was intended to do.

Of course, I’m no expert, but maybe her post should serve to inspire hydration, healthy living and lip balm instead of judgy comments.
