There’s Bad News About That Spice Girls World Tour Everyone Was Hoping For

If you were one of the many, many people who were ready to line up to buy tickets to the Spice Girls reunion tour, there’s some bad news for you. Despite widespread and persistent rumors that the girl-power icons of the ’90s were getting back together, it turns out it’s just not gonna happen.

Victoria Beckham, who was Posh Spice before she became a fashion mogul and David Beckham’s better half, just crushed all our dreams. Speaking to Vogue at a preview event for her autumn/winter 2018 collection, Beckham squashed all remaining hope there was any truth to the rumors about a Spice Girls reunion tour.

“I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour,” she said, as hearts broke all over the world.

It’s really not fair of Beckham not to even consider this since it’s her fault the rumors ever started at all. She was the one who posted a photo to Instagram of the Spice Girls all together — Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie “Mel B” Brown and herself — having lunch in London.

And then, after that lunch, the Spice Girls released a joint statement saying, “We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching-up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together. We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for The Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of The Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”

I’m sorry, but if those “exciting opportunities” don’t include a reunion tour, what are we even doing here? The Spice Girls know what their fans want. Now, when are they going to deliver?
