So many people have had enough of hearing and reading about children being killed in school as the country’s epidemic of gun violence continues. An emotional and visibly shaken Jimmy Kimmeladdressed President Donald Trump directly during his show Thursday night, begging for common-sense gun control measures that will protect children.

“As I’m sure you know and feel, this is another very sad day in America,” Kimmel began. “At least 17 lives have been lost. More than a dozen people are hospitalized, and our president, as he should, weighed in on the tragic events this morning from the White House.”
After playing a clip of Trump’s address to the nation following Tuesday’s shooting, Kimmel continued with a speech aimed directly at the president.

“Tell your buddies in Congress — tell Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and Marco Rubio, all the family men who care so much about their communities — that what we need are laws. Real laws that do everything possible to keep assault rifles out of the hands of people who are going to shoot our kids,” he said. “Tell these Congressmen and lobbyists, who infest that swamp you said you were going to drain, force these allegedly Christian men and women who stuff their pockets with money from the NRA year after year after year to do something. Now. Not later. Now.”
Kimmel also took aim at those who say the immediate aftermath of a tragedy like this one is “too soon to talk about it.”
“Children are being murdered. Do something,” he said. “We still haven’t even talked about it. You still haven’t done anything about this. Nothing. You’ve literally done nothing.”
At the end of his monologue, Kimmel urged his viewers to write and call their congressional representatives to demand real action on gun control and to vote them out of office if they don’t listen.
“Whatever you do, do something because I, for one, am very, very, very, very tired of this,” he said.
