After the success of Tonya Harding’s biopic I, Tonya, we might just need more biopics from the golden age of American figure skating. Any ideas for who could be next? One name comes immediately to mind: Michelle Kwan.

Kwan was an absolute American darling as a competitive Olympic skater in the ’90s. She’s been out of the spotlight for a while now, but that doesn’t mean moviegoing audiences wouldn’t want to see her life play out on-screen. So, who would play her in a biopic? Turns out Kwan herself has one amazing idea: Constance Wu.
“I don’t know! I love her. She’s awesome,” Kwan told SheKnows. We couldn’t agree more.
As for what parts of Kwan’s life the biopic would focus on, we know what we’d like to see: her time on the Olympic figure skating team. But the beauty of a biopic is learning things about the subject’s life that you had never even heard of before, and that’s why we’ve gotta listen to Kwan’s suggestions, too. One of them comes from pretty early in her life.
“My family owned a Chinese restaurant, so we used to spend a lot of time in between or at dinner at the Chinese restaurant and I’d be running around trying to pretend cook and then helping out with cashier,” she said. Yep, we’d watch that.
Another part of her life that she thinks should make it into the movie is how her dad used to bribe a Zamboni driver with donuts and coffee to open the skating rink for her to practice in the wee hours of the morning.

“I would go to bed in my skating clothes and just roll out of bed and go there and skate at 4 a.m.,” she said. “I tell my nieces that story.”
We need this biopic ASAP, please!
