Sylvester Stallone may be a septuagenarian, but he’s not feeble or ailing or any other kind of worrisome thing you may associate with someone that age. In fact, Stallone is still very much alive, well and working his rear end off these days (did you catch him in This Is Us recently?), but those all seem to be things Stallone had to remind the world of on President’s Day.

On Monday, Stallone took to his Twitter account to repost a message from his Instagram account: “Please ignore this stupidity… Alive and well and happy and healthy… Still punching!” The caption was in reference to a fake meme showing photos of Stallone with his hair falling out and looking quite ragged with an in-memoriam-style photo posted above it.

If you’ve seen the movie, you might recall those photos showing a much worse-for-wear Stallone are actually stills taken from Creed. Toward the end of the film, Stallone’s character, Rocky Balboa, battles the effects of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and we see him at one point in a very sick and frail state. The photos in the above death hoax meme are from that part of the movie and likely were taken while Stallone was still in his makeup while on set.

But Stallone wasn’t the only one defending himself and actually publicly confirming that he is in fact alive (what a nutty thing to have to do in the first place). Stallone’s younger brother, Frank Stallone, also took to social media to post defensive tweets and a video on his Instagram to confirm his brother is alive and to give a warning to people who attempted to spread rumors about his older brother.
“Rumors that my brother is dead are false. What kind of sick demented cruel mind thinks of things like this to post? People like this are mentally deranged and don’t deserve a place in society,” Frank tweeted out before going on in the video to question what kind of person would actually spread such a hurtful rumor about someone else.

While it’s not immediately clear why these death rumors began circulating, Fox News does note that it took off over the holiday weekend, with many folks taking to Twitter to give their condolences after being led to believe Stallone died from prostate cancer (which to our knowledge he doesn’t have). Stallone’s reps haven’t released a statement at this time to indicate if any legal action is being taken or if this news has affected Stallone’s life in any way outside what his comments indicated. Let’s just hope that this is the last hurtful death hoax the actor has to find himself involved in.
