Paula Patton Spills Details About Her New Relationship

It’s been a long time coming, but actor Paula Patton seems to have found love once again. While doing press for her new film Traffik, she opened up about her dating life and about a new mystery mystery man.

“I have a boyfriend now,” she told Extra. “I haven’t called anybody a boyfriend. He’s my boyfriend!” It’s welcome news from the multitalented actor/singer/songwriter, who split from Robin Thicke in 2014 after two decades together, who hasn’t gone on the record about a post-divorce romance until now.

Patton declined to reveal too much about her new beau, but gave us a couple clues (and good dating advice). If our reading-between-the-lines skills are on-point, it seems they met in Los Angeles and he’s a man who works outside of the movie biz.

“If you have a kid and you have a basketball game, look at the daddies. It’s kind of a suburban romance. It’s like all women’s fairy tale,” she said. “He’s got kids, I got a kid. You know, one of those!”

Screw the details, it’s about time Patton was all smiles again. The actress was forced to battle through an ugly divorce and even uglier custody negotiations but that’s all behind her now. She’s looking forward to the future with the man she calls her new love. When asked how long they’ve been together, she sheepishly replied, “A month,” before quickly adding, “but when you know you know! I love him.”

Perhaps the one thing that makes her so open to finding new love is a great outlook on the past. When she was asked by Extra about the key to successful co-parenting, Patton empathetically said, “To live in the now, you have to forgive. That was then, this is now,” she explained. “You don’t have to hold on to anything. You’re not doing your children any service. They feel everything, they want their parents to get along and no matter how you feel about your spouse, everybody wants to love their parents.”

Great wisdom from a lady in love and words we should all live by.
