Trouble continues to find Taylor Swift. It’s almost predictable that the minute Swift began to gain some positive momentum in her life, which includes recent buzz from the release of the song “Babe” she cowrote and performed with Sugarland and a world tour she’s currently in the final weeks of preparations for, something disturbing would quite literally land on her doorstep in the form of a young man breaking into her home.

Entertainment Tonight provides details of what happened, including an official statement from the NYPD. The statement notes that the incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Friday — entering Swift’s home during the afternoon was certainly a bold move by the offender. The statement continues, “During their investigation, responding officers saw a ladder and a broken window at the location. They found the perpetrator asleep inside the apartment and affected an arrest.”
The offender is 22-year-old Roger Alvarado from Homestead, Florida. He was arrested on charges of stalking in the first degree, burglary, criminal mischief in the third degree and criminal trespassing in the third degree according to Entertainment Tonight. This is not the first time Alvarado has attempted to get closer to Swift by any means necessary. ET also reports that on Feb.13, Alvarado attempted to get into Swift’s New York City apartment by breaking through the front door with a shovel.
Alvarado’s motives aren’t known at this time, nor do we know anything about further legal proceedings on this case. Swift hasn’t publicly acknowledged the incident, although it’s hard to imagine she hasn’t been notified by now. Thankfully, Swift wasn’t home at the time of the break-in, and it’s reported she doesn’t live at the property currently.
This news comes on the heels of Swift’s stalker, Frank Andrew Hoover, getting sentenced in early April to 10 years probation after repeatedly threatening Swift and her family and violating a protective order.

We can only hope this unsettling news doesn’t stick with Swift for too long. Her Reputation world tour kicks off on May 8, and she’ll need to stay focused on that.
