Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Made Their Relationship Public for a Major Event

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom might have had the best weekend out of all of us. This adorable pair is currently in the throes of a happily rekindled (yet unconfirmed by them) relationship that they’re not afraid to make more and more public as time goes on. The couple has been making sure they’re spending any and all of their free time together. The lovebirds made the most of their trip to Rome this weekend, and basically, without saying anything, confirmed they were indeed back together. Oh, and they met the pope.

Perry and Bloom were in the gorgeous Italian city for the United to Cure conference in the city-within-the-city — Vatican City — where, according to E! News, Perry was slated to speak about the power of transcendental meditation. The conference, according to PR Newswire, was meant to “raise global awareness and create a forum for collaboration around the wide array of powerful and promising cell therapies, gene therapies and immunotherapies emerging from medical institutions around the world, as well as the impact new technology will have on humanity and society.”

The conference sounds interesting, but we’re focused on a photo Perry posted from the event. It’s not clear when it happened, but at some point, basking in the glow of the holy city with Bloom by her side, she met Pope Francis. The meeting was likely part of the scheduled meet and greets the pope had with conference attendees, but scheduled or not, we have a feeling this is a watershed moment in Perry’s and Bloom’s lives — they won’t forget about it anytime soon.

Perry shared the photo of the meeting to her Instagram. “Honored to be in the presence of His Holiness @franciscus’ compassionate heart and inclusivity. Thank you to @meditationbob and #TheCuraFoundation for making it all possible,” she captioned a very cool photo of herself, holding hands with the pope as Bloom looked on. It’s doubtful the meeting lasted any longer than a few moments considering it looks like a crowded scene and the pope is, well, the pope (read: busy).

Perry and Bloom not only got to meet the pope — one of the ultimate famous faces if you ask us — but they also got to jaunt around Vatican City and Rome while on their holiday. E! News was able to preserve some of the photos from the pairs’ Instagram stories, which included photos from a visit to the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum and looking super-cute with some Instagram filters.

We don’t know about you, but between meeting the pope and seeing some of the most historic sites in the world right after participating in a conference meant to make the world a better place, we’re pretty sure Perry and Bloom’s weekend retreat to Rome was epic.
