Netflix’s Murder Mystery is slated to star Sandler and Aniston as a New York cop and his wife, respectively, who become prime suspects in the murder of an elderly billionaire while they are on vacation together in Europe. The movie was scripted by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and is set to be directed by Workaholics cocreator Kyle Newacheck.
Murder Mystery will mark only the second time Aniston and Sandler have worked together. But despite their short amount of on-screen time together, Huffington Post reported in 2001 that the pair has been friends for decades. When Aniston was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012, Sandler gave a speech that brought her to tears.
Variety reports that Murder Mystery is Aniston’s first experience working with Netflix, though it’s Sandler’s sixth project with the streaming company. His most recent Netflix comedy, The Week Of, costars Chris Rock and premiered last Friday. Previous movies that have resulted from Sandler’s Netflix deal include bawdy comedies Sandy Wexler and The Ridiculous 6.

Apple ordered two full seasons of the as-yet-untitled morning drama, which, in addition to starring in, Aniston and Witherspoon also co-own alongside Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res company. They are listed as executive producers for the series.
According to IMDb, Murder Mystery is currently filming in Montréal. No additional casting information has been released as of today.
