Buckle up, Bachelorette fans: Becca Kufrin’s season is about to get bumpy. She recently chatted with Us Weekly at The Highlight Room in Hollywood, where she revealed that, yes, her ex-fiancé Arie Luyendyk Jr. will make an appearance this season. Ugh.

“He makes a quick appearance,” Kufrin said. “I’m not going to give anything away or when it happens, but it’s a conversation that had to happen.”
Really, though? Why is The Bachelorettespending so much time dwelling on the breakup?
After Luyendyk proposed to Kufrin on the Season 22 finale of The Bachelor, he changed his mind and decided he wanted to be with runner-up Lauren Burnham. ABC aired Luyendyk and Kufrin’s lengthy, unedited breakup on the After the Rose special in March. Shortly after, Luyendyk and Burnham got engaged — and according to a source who spoke to Us, they opted not to tune into Kufrin’s Bachelorette premiere.
“They’re happy for her, but they don’t see a reason to watch and relive everything they worked so hard to move past from,” said the source. So, what’s Luyendyk doing making an appearance on the show? And why was her first one-on-one date in a rage room where she figuratively destroyed every memory she has with him? Awkward first date, if you ask me…
When Us asked Kufrin if she felt she and Luyendyk “got it all out,” she simply replied, “Yeah.” So his upcoming appearance seems a bit like titillation to increase viewers, which seems unfair to Kufrin, who’s also worked hard to move past what happened on Luyendyk’s Bachelor finale.

The good news is she told Us that she’s excited for fans to watch her “love story unfold.” From her quotes, she seems genuinely happy with where her love life is now, and that’s awesome. “I feel like this time around, it worked,” she said, referring to her relationship with her new fiancé. “And it’s just the best fit for me.”
We’ll have to wait and see what Luyendyk’s presence on the show means, but Kufrin did confirm to Us that another ex, Ross Jirgl (who tried unsuccessfully to win her back during Luyendyk’s Bachelor run), won’t be making an appearance. Honestly, we would rather have seen that — but as we all know, drama sells.
