It’s been almost two years since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced their divorce, but the two have yet to officially sign the papers or agree on a permanent custody plan for their six children. However, it now looks like Jolie and Pitt are facing some serious requirements when it comes to the latest order in their custody battle, per court documents obtained by People Tuesday.

According to People, the documents state Jolie could lose primary physical custody of her minor children if she doesn’t improve the relationship between their children and Pitt. The judge handling Jolie and Pitt’s divorce case stated in the documents that “it is critical that each of [the six] children have a healthy and strong relationship with their father and mother” and Jolie is required to allow Pitt to fix and maintain that relationship with his children.
After also receiving court documents, CNN reported Tuesday Jolie must tell their children the “court has determined that not having a relationship with their father is harmful to them,” they are “safe with their father” and maintaining a healthy relationship with both Jolie and Pitt is “critical.” (In November 2016, CNN reported Pitt was cleared by the Los Angeles County Department of Child and Family Services of any wrongdoing after a child abuse investigation, which stemmed from an alleged incident involving one of his children on a private jet and allegedly occurred one day before Jolie filed for divorce.)

According to CNN, the court also ordered a summer custody schedule requiring the six children to split their time between Los Angeles and London, but Jolie will continue having primary physical custody. CNN reports the court documents also state, “If the minor children remain closed down to their father and depending on the circumstances surrounding this condition, it may result in a reduction of the time they spend with [Jolie] and may result in the Court ordering primary physical custody to [Pitt].”
E! News reported Tuesday the summer arrangement doesn’t include Maddox since he is 16 and is allowed to decide how much time he wants to spend with either parent. According to E! News, “Pitt will have the children from June 8 until June 17 for four hours per day while he’s in London, where Jolie has a rental home.” Then, Pitt will get custody for 10 hours per day from June 27 to July 1. The actor will also reportedly have custody of the children sometime later in July.
According to a source who spoke with E! News, Pitt is happy with the current custody arrangement. “He is thrilled that the summer schedule for the kids is figured out and that he will be seeing them regularly,” the source said. “He feels this is a huge victory. It’s a big step and he hopes to continue getting back on track with each of the kids.”
Since announcing their split in September 2016, Jolie and Pitt have been trying to figure out the best custody arrangement but have yet to settle on anything official. Upon announcing their divorce, Jolie revealed she was seeking sole physical custody of their children. In November 2016, divorce documents stated Pitt was seeking joint and physical custody of all six children.
At this time, neither Jolie nor Pitt have publicly commented on the latest development in their custody battle.
