It’s definitely not uncommon for celebrities to get tattoos commemorating their biggest projects. Members of the fellowship in The Lord of the Rings famously got matching tattoos after filming wrapped up, and the original Avengers supposedly have matching tats as well. Now Sophie Turner is joining their ranks by getting a direwolf tattoo to remember her time playing Sansa Stark on HBO‘s Game of Thrones… but is the tattoo a spoiler for what’s to come in the final season of the show?

Apparently, some fans are speculating up a storm. According to Cosmopolitan, several fans think the tattoo points to the remaining Starks making it through whatever the last season of Game of Thrones has in store. In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s Turner’s new ink, posted to her tattoo artist’s Instagram account.

The tattoo, which is on Turner’s arm, shows the Stark family sigil: a direwolf. Below is part of a quote from the first book in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series from when Ned Stark talks to Arya after she says that she hates Sansa: “Let me tell you something about wolves, child. When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. Summer is the time for squabbles. In winter, we must protect one another, keep each other warm, share our strengths. So if you must hate, Arya, hate those who would truly do us harm.”
The passage appears throughout the books, usually in times of reflection for Arya — who goes through a lot when she’s separated from her family. We’ve also seen this quote on the show, from Ned himself in Season 1 and from Arya and Sansa, speaking to each other, in Season 7.
Here’s what we know for sure: When the Starks are separated, all hell breaks loose. Many of them are already dead, but there are a few Starks remaining: Sansa, Arya, Bran and Jon Snow. Just two of the direwolves that the kids found in Season 1 are alive: Ghost, Jon Snow’s direwolf, and Nymeria, Arya’s direwolf, whom she set free in Season 1.

Now that the series is wrapping up and Sansa has reclaimed the Stark stronghold at Winterfell, will we see this family rise up and defeat their enemies before Game of Thrones ends its TV reign? We learned at the end of Season 7 that Jon Snow is the true heir to the Iron Throne… but where does that leave the Starks with whom he grew up? We’ll have to wait and see, but we wouldn’t object to some modicum of a happy ending for this family who’s suffered so much.
