Raven Gates Just Jumped in a Twitter Feud to Defend Her Bachelor BFF’s Honor

As if poor Becca Kufrin hasn’t been plagued with enough problems on her season of The Bachelorette so far, a Twitter feud has erupted behind the scenes of the ABC show over one of Kufrin’s suitors, Colton Underwood. Making things even messier is that several past contestants from the Bachelor franchise are tangled up in the mess — including fan favorite Raven Gates.

The drama started on Monday, when Season 22 Bachelor contestant Tia Booth made a cameo on Kufrin’s season. There, she came face to face with Underwood, whom she’d dated briefly before he signed on to compete for Kufrin’s heart. Not surprisingly, Kufrin confronted her potential beau about the relationship, but both parties adamantly denied having any feelings for each other.

Still with us? OK, good. It gets even more complicated.

Ultimately, the run-in between the reported exes didn’t cause too much trouble for Kufrin — she seemed to genuinely believe that both Booth and Underwood had moved on. However, the whole exchange ruffled quite a few feathers outside the show… especially when Reality Steve posted a few Twitter pics of Underwood on the set of Bachelor in Paradise (which will air this summer).

Can you guess who he was on a date with in the snapshots? If you guessed Booth, you’re right. Also in the photos, which appear to show a double date, are Gates and former Bachelorette contestant Adam Gottschalk.

And, well, Bekah Martinez — who competed against both Booth and Kufrin on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of The Bachelor — was not having it.

She shared one of Reality Steve’s photos on Twitter, facetiously captioning it, “Yeah Becca, we’re both 100% over each other! we’re TOTALLY not planning on getting back together/probably engaged the minute we’re in paradise (we’re gonna get so many followers from this manufactured narrative lol).”
https://twitter.com/whats_ur_sign_/status/1007522276915404800Gates quickly jumped to Booth’s defense, posting her own now-deleted sarcastic response: “Make sure you follow @whats_ur_sign_ so she can get those followers so she can stop talking shit about her friends.. like tia!!! And Becca!!! Come on now, hurry up!!”

If you’ve got some time and really want to explore this shade parade, E! News managed to grab screenshots of most of Gates’ deleted comments. There’s also a pretty comprehensive rundown being compiled on Martinez’s Twitter profile.

But, basically, it all boils down to Martinez believing that Underwood and Booth played Kufrin — and perhaps were dating the entire time Underwood was on Kufrin’s season (which is still going on) and even when they both signed on to be on the upcoming season of Bachelor in Paradise.

By her own account, Gates jumped into the fray in defense of her friend.

However, a certain Shakespearean quote springs to mind: “The lady doth protest too much!” Is it possible Gates was so quick to jump on the defensive because she has a guilty conscience? After all, it would stand to reason that if Booth and Underwood were seeing each other on the sly, Booth’s best friend would have known about it.

Add in the photos of Gates and Gottschalk clearly having a blast with the couple in question after Kufrin’s season, and you can see how someone might interpret the situation as — what was the word? — manufactured.
