Bachelor in Paradise alums Jared Haibon and Ashley Iaconetti just went public with their blossoming romance in May. They’re such a sweet couple, and truth be told, we’ve all been waiting and wondering if this Bachelor Nation couple — who’ve been so smitten with one another since day one — would ever go all the way. Well, now the wait is over.

People reports that Haibon proposed in Mexico on Sunday, and Iaconetti looks absolutely over the moon in the photos taken of this special moment. Neither Haibon nor Iaconetti have commented on their new engagement on social media yet, but we’re not surprised. They’ve proven in the past they like to take their time and enjoy each moment of their relationship, so we imagine they’re doing exactly that the day after Haibon’s proposal.

This newly engaged couple met on Haibon’s 2015 season of Bachelor in Paradise, but he didn’t immediately return Iaconetti’s love-at-first-sight feelings. It wasn’t until later, during a weekend spent in Virginia together for a charity event, that Haibon realized his feelings. “That was such a different experience being with someone in the show and in real life,” he told People. “[Iaconetti was] just so down to earth and easy-going, ambitious … sexy.”
Although Haibon and Iaconetti told People in May that they were just enjoying dating, they also confessed that they’ve talked extensively about the future.
“As soon as we started dating, we both knew that this isn’t just for us to date as boyfriend/girlfriend — this was more so we were going to date because we see a potential life partner in each other,” Haibon said. “We’ve talked about it but we’re just dating right now, we’re enjoying that. We literally just announced our relationship. The thing is, we’ve been so close for the past three years, I just know her inside and out. I know everything about Ashley.”

They both wanted to wait before confessing their love for each other, which didn’t happen until six weeks into dating — but sometimes waiting is overrated. Iaconetti told Entertainment Tonight in early June that if Haibon proposed, she would definitely say yes. Now she has, and everything about them and their engagement is so sweet that we can’t even handle it.

Around the same time as that interview with ET, the couple shared with People that they already refer to each other as “husband” and “wife.” Haibon told the magazine, “I think we just both see each other as lifelong partners, so it’s not scary, for me personally, to call her my future wife.”
It’s clear that these two have been heading toward this moment for a long time, and we’re so happy that they finally got there. After all the ups and downs of their relationship, it’s amazing to see them overcome that and fall in love. Sometimes, Bachelor Nation fosters some real, lasting connections. Now, when’s the wedding? We’re sure it will be an event to remember.
