Jesse Williams & His Ex, Aryn Drake-Lee, Have Settled on Child Support Payments

Another major issue in the divorce process between Jesse Williams and his ex-wife, Aryn Drake-Lee, has officially been settled. Williams and Drake-Lee have been going back and forth on numerous issues following their April 2017 split. On Wednesday, we finally learned another key aspect of Williams and Drake-Lee’s new normal: how much Williams will pay in child support each month.

According to court documents obtained by E! News, Williams will now pay $50,629 in child support each month. The money will go toward the support of his two children with Drake-Lee, Sadie, 4, and Maceo, 2. That figure was arrived at in part because the documents note that Williams’ monthly income is $521,000, which the court deems “extraordinarily high.” The payments will begin on July 1. Williams will pay half the amount at that time ($25,314.50) and then pay the other half on July 15. 

That child support payment amount might be jarring, but when you consider that it will be paid in addition to the monthly spousal support payments Williams and Drake-Lee agreed on back in January, it’s positively jaw-dropping. For those who need reminding, back in January, the exes agreed that Williams would shell out $50,695 per month in spousal support according to E! News. That figure was upped from the original $33,242. It was never made clear why that payment increased so significantly.

This new settlement will no doubt be a source of relief for both parties, especially since these divorce proceedings have been particularly acrimonious for them both. Having wed in 2012 and putting five years of marriage on the books, it’s easy to surmise separation wouldn’t have been easy. But this celebrity divorce has been particularly costly, especially for Williams, who also had to pay Drake-Lee’s attorney fees and agree to give Drake-Lee half of his Grey’s Anatomy residuals for the five years they were married.

All costs aside, we’re guessing that closing this chapter of the divorce proceedings is a welcome relief for Williams and Drake-Lee.
