Move over, Ryan Reynolds! Blake Lively has a new love interest — in her new movie, A Simple Favor, that is. Entertainment Tonight reports that after Lively shared a photo of her posters from the film on Instagram, along with a pretty hilarious caption, it sparked an interesting conversation in the comments.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BkQ-tLwgwL_/We know how much Lively and Reynolds love to troll each other at every opportunity. This caption is no exception. Lively wrote, “[Anna Kendrick] is the hotter, female(r) version of my husband… so, would it reaaaally count as cheating?” along with several emojis including a knife, a dress, a martini, a bow and a black heart.
Reynolds ran with the joke, commenting, “The most ambitious crossover event in history. I’ll miss you both. Tell my story.”
Kendrick also chimed in with her own flirty quip: “So glad we’re finally taking this public. I let Ryan have Deadpool, he can give me this.”
Fans in the comments reacted with laughing emojis and witty responses of their own. One person commented, “Damn. Even @vancityreynolds can’t compete with @annakendrick47 she’s just awesome.”
In early May, Lively posted a cryptic photo of a hand-drawn hangman game on Instagram reading, “What happened to Emily?” and then deleted all of her videos photos. She returned a few days later with the first teaser trailer for A Simple Favor. Her posts have since been restored, but the move generated a lot of buzz — especially because she unfollowed Reynolds in the overhaul, which sparked divorce rumors. Those rumors have since been laid to rest.

A Simple Favor, adapted from the 2017 thriller novel by Darcey Bell, follows mommy vlogger Stephanie (Kendrick) as she seeks to uncover what happened to Emily (Lively) after the latter suddenly disappears. From the trailers, it doesn’t look like they play love interests; all official descriptions of the Paul Feig-directed film say that they’re best friends. They are pretty flirty in the second trailer, but this film clearly isn’t a rom-com. The mystery surrounding Lively’s character is so good that the trailers barely give anything away.
It would seem that not even Reynolds knows what happened to Lively’s character. After she posted the second teaser trailer on Twitter on May 26, he quote-tweeted the video and said, “You can tell me. We’re married. You once drove me to the hospital when you were giving birth. So… what the fuck happened to Emily?”

We’re dying to know, too. A Simple Favor hits theaters September 14, so until then it looks like Reynolds will be in the dark with the rest of us.
